Static Procedure (Model VP-20 ONLY)

  1. Remove the timing plug on the injection pump head and rotate the engine to TDC. Mount dial Indicator and adapter (D84P-9000-D) to the injection pump head. See Fig 1 . Preload indicator about .01" (.25 mm) is indicated on the dial indicator.

  2. Rotate the engine clockwise until lowest value is displayed. Set the dial indicator on zero. Turn the engine clockwise until No. 1 cylinder is at TDC. Using TDC Aligning Pin (T84P-6400-A), hold the engine at TDC and check the measurement of the pump plunger with reference of the mileage on the timing belt.
  3. If the measurement is not correct, loosen pump and install Rotating Tool (T84P-9000-B). See Figure & Figure . Rotate the pump until the proper measurement is attained. Retighten the mounting bolts and nuts in the following sequence: nut on inside of front flange near engine, nut on outside of front flange, then rear bolts.
  4. Rotate the engine a few times and recheck specifications after setting engine on TDC. If the measurements are correct, reinstall injection pump timing plug.
