Fuel System Bleeding

NOTE: Each time the fuel system is opened or the vehicle runs out of fuel, the fuel system must be bled.
  1. Close vent screw. Turn the ignition switch "ON" and let the electric pump run for a few minutes.
  2. Try to start engine. If engine starts and runs normally, bleeding is complete. If the engine will not start or runs poorly, loosen the coupling nuts on the injectors. Engine must be running or cranking.
CAUTION: To prevent being struck by the high pressure fuel, use extreme care when loosening the coupling nuts.
  3. If the problem is not corrected, bleed each component of the system (with engine running or cranking) in the following order: Loosen the fitting labeled "OUT", timing plug, fuel shutoff solenoid, and injector pressure outlet valves.
  4. If engine still will not start, replace fuel shutoff solenoid.
