Intake Manifold: Installation: Installation

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Lexus GS 460. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INSTALL INTAKE MANIFOLD 
    1. Install 2 new gaskets to the intake manifold.
    2. Temporarily install the intake manifold with the 2 nuts and 8 bolts. Then tighten the 2 nuts and 8 bolts uniformly in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf)

    3. Connect the No. 1 ventilation hose to the intake manifold.

      NOTE:

      Position the claws of the clip as shown in the illustration.

  2. INSTALL VACUUM SWITCHING VALVE ASSEMBLY

    1. Install the vacuum switching valve with the bolt.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 15 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the fuel vapor feed hose to the intake manifold.
    3. Connect the No. 2 fuel vapor feed hose to the vacuum switching valve.
  3. INSTALL WATER BY-PASS PIPE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the water by-pass pipe to the intake manifold with the 2 bolts.

    2. Connect the heater inlet water hose, heater outlet water hose, water inlet hose, and No. 3 water by-pass hose to the water by-pass pipe with the 4 clamps.
      NOTE:

      Position the No. 3 water by-pass hose clip as shown in the illustration.

  4. INSTALL INJECTOR DRIVER

    1. Install the injector driver to the intake manifold by installing the 2 bolts and 2 nuts in the order shown in the illustration.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the 4 wire harness connectors to the injector driver. Then move the lock lever as shown in the illustration to lock the connectors.
    3. Connect the 2 clamps to the injector driver.
  5. CONNECT ENGINE WIRE 
    1. Connect the engine wire harness connector.

      HINT: 

      To connect the injector driver connectors, move the lock lever to lock the connector.

      1. Connect the engine wire harness with the 4 nuts.

        Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      2. Connect the 12 clamps and 10 connectors.
      3. Connect the engine wire harness to the No. 1 relay block with the nut.

        Torque: 5.0 N*m (51 kgf*cm, 44 in.*lbf) 

      4. Connect the 6 clamps and 12 connectors.

      5. Install the engine wire harness clamp bracket with the nut.

        Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

      6. Connect the +B terminal of the generator assembly with the nut.

        Torque: 12 N*m (122 kgf*cm, 9 ft.*lbf) 

  6. INSTALL NO. 3 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR 
    1. Install the No. 3 exhaust manifold heat insulator with the 3 bolts.

      Torque: 10 N*m (102 kgf*cm, 7 ft.*lbf) 

  7. INSTALL EXHAUST MANIFOLD SUB-ASSEMBLY RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  8. INSTALL NO. 1 EXHAUST MANIFOLD HEAT INSULATOR  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 7
  9. INSTALL GENERATOR ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  10. INSTALL V-RIBBED BELT  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  11. INSTALL OIL COOLER TUBE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the oil cooler tube sub-assembly with the 2 bolts.

      Torque: 14 N*m (138 kgf*cm, 10 ft.*lbf) 

  12. INSTALL ENGINE OIL LEVEL DIPSTICK GUIDE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 19
  13. INSTALL FRONT ACTIVE STABILIZER CONTROL ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ Active Stabilizer System) 
    1. Install the front active stabilizer control actuator assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  14. INSTALL FRONT STABILIZER BAR (w/o Active Stabilizer System) 
    1. Install front stabilizer bar. Refer to INSTALLATION .
  15. INSTALL FRONT EXHAUST PIPE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install front exhaust pipe assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 11 .
  16. INSTALL THROTTLE BODY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  17. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CASE SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 45
  18. INSTALL AIR CLEANER CAP SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 46
  19. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR CLEANER INLET  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 68
  20. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:

    When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .

  21. ADD ENGINE COOLANT  . Refer to REPLACEMENT - Step 4
  22. INSPECT FOR COOLANT LEAK  . Refer to ON-VEHICLE INSPECTION - Step 1
  23. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER RH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 69
  24. INSTALL ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 70
  25. INSTALL COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 71
  26. INSTALL V-BANK COVER SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 72
  27. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER LH 
  28. INSTALL REAR ENGINE UNDER COVER RH
