Mirror Heater does not Operate with Rear Defogger Switch: Procedure

  1. CHECK CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM 
    1. Check if a CAN communication DTC is output. Refer to DIAGNOSIS SYSTEM .
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      DTC is not output A
      DTC is output B

    B → See step   6 

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM 
    1. Check window defogger system operation. Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION .

      OK

      Window defogger system is normal.

    NG → See step   7 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING TECHSTREAM (MIRROR HEATER) 
    1. Select the Active Test, use the Techstream to generate a control command, and then check the mirror heater function. Refer to DATA LIST / ACTIVE TEST .

      OK

      Mirror heater operates normally.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      Mirror heater operation of both mirrors is normal A
      Mirror heater operation of LH side mirror is not normal B
      Mirror heater operation of RH side mirror is not normal C

  4. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH 
    1. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly LH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z3-4 (HTR+) - z3-12 (HTR-) 25 °C (77 °F) 2.4 to 4.4 Ω

    NG → See step   10 

    OK → See step   9 

  5. INSPECT OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH 
    1. Remove the outer rear view mirror assembly RH. Refer to REMOVAL .

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      z2-4 (HTR+) - z2-12 (HTR-) 25 °C (77 °F) 2.4 to 4.4 Ω

    NG → See step   12 

    OK → See step   11 

  6. GO TO CAN COMMUNICATION SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  7. GO TO WINDOW DEFOGGER SYSTEM. Refer to  HOW TO PROCEED WITH TROUBLESHOOTING 
  8. REPLACE AIR CONDITIONING AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  9. REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  10. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY LH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  11. REPLACE OUTER MIRROR CONTROL ECU ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  12. REPLACE OUTER REAR VIEW MIRROR ASSEMBLY RH. Refer to  REMOVAL
