Speaker Circuit: Procedure

  1. CHECK SPEAKER 
    RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    All speakers do not sound A
    A speaker does not sound B

    A → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    B: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK SPEAKER 
    RESULT

    Result Proceed to
    Front No. 1 speaker does not sound A
    Front No. 2 speaker does not sound B
    Stereo component speaker does not sound C
    Rear speaker does not sound D
    Rear No. 2 speaker does not sound E

    E → See step   10 

    D → See step   8 

    C → See step   6 

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT FRONT NO. 1 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Check that malfunction disappears when the speaker is replaced with a normal one.

      OK

      Malfunction disappears.

      HINT: 

      • Connect all connectors to speakers.
      • If the right front or left front speaker is suspected to be malfunctioning, inspect by interchanging the right front and left front speaker.

    NG → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → END 

  4. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the S23 amplifier connector.

    2. Disconnect the D15 or D16 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S23-1 (TFR+) - D16-2 Below 1 Ω
      S23-14 (TFR-) - D16-1 Below 1 Ω
      S23-2 (TFL+) - D15-2 Below 1 Ω
      S23-15 (TFL-) - D15-1 Below 1 Ω
      S23-1 (TFR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S23-14 (TFR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S23-2 (TFL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S23-15 (TFL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. INSPECT FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the D15 or D16 speaker connector.

    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 5.4 Ω

    NG → REPLACE FRONT NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 

  6. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the S22 amplifier connector.

    2. Disconnect the W4 or W5 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S22-1 (FR+) - W5-1 Below 1 Ω
      S22-8 (FR-) - W5-2 Below 1 Ω
      S22-2 (FL+) - W4-1 Below 1 Ω
      S22-9 (FL-) - W4-2 Below 1 Ω
      S22-1 (FR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-8 (FR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-2 (FL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-9 (FL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the W4 or W5 speaker connector.

    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 8 Ω

    NG → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 

  8. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR SPEAKER) 
    1. Disconnect the S22 amplifier connector.

    2. Disconnect the R10 or R11 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S22-3 (RR+) - R11-1 Below 1 Ω
      S22-10 (RR-) - R11-2 Below 1 Ω
      S22-4 (RL+) - R10-1 Below 1 Ω
      S22-11 (RL-) - R10-2 Below 1 Ω
      S22-3 (RR+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-10 (RR-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-4 (RL+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-11 (RL-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  9. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the R10 or R11 speaker connector.

    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 8 Ω

    NG → REPLACE REAR SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 

  10. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER - REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the S22 amplifier connector.

    2. Disconnect the W6 speaker connector.
    3. Measure the resistance of the wire harness side connectors.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      S22-6 (WF-) - W6-1 Below 1 Ω
      S22-5 (WF+) - W6-2 Below 1 Ω
      S22-6 (WF-) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher
      S22-5 (WF+) - Body ground 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  11. INSPECT REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the W6 speaker connector.

    2. Measure the resistance of the speaker.

      Standard resistance

      Tester Connection Specified Condition
      1 - 2 Approx. 8 Ω

    NG → REPLACE REAR NO. 2 SPEAKER ASSEMBLY 

    OK → REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY
