Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2007 Lexus ES 350. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. INITIALIZE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 
    1. Check that the sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly can be initialized (See INITIALIZATION  ).

      OK: 

      Sliding roof drive gear sub-assembly can be initialized. 

    NG: Go to step  3

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  2. CHECK SLIDING ROOF FUNCTION 
    1. Check the auto operation with the OPEN, CLOSE, UP and DOWN switches (See DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODE CHART  ).

      OK: 

      Auto operation operates normally with OPEN, CLOSE, UP and DOWN switches. 

    NG: REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU) 

    OK: END 

  3. CHECK WIRE HARNESS (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR - OVERHEAD JUNCTION BLOCK) 
    1. Disconnect the Q7 and Q2 connectors.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      WIRE HARNESS (SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR - OVERHEAD JUNCTION BLOCK)

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      Q7-2 (E) - Q2-5 (GND3) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-7 (OPN) - Q2-3 (OPN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-8 (DWN) - Q2-2 (DOWN) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-9 (CLS) - Q2-1 (CLS) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q7-10 (UP) - Q2-4 (UP) Always Below 1 Ω
      Q2-1 (CLS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q2-2 (DOWN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q2-3 (OPN) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q2-4 (UP) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      Q2-5 (GND3) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to Next Step 

  4. INSPECT ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the roof console box assembly.
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance 

      ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL SWITCH)

      Tester Connection Switch Position Specified Condition
      Q2-1 (CLS) - Q2-5 (GND3) CLOSE Below 100 Ω
      Q2-2 (DOWN) - Q2-5 (GND3) DOWN Below 100 Ω
      Q2-3 (OPN) - Q2-5 (GND3) OPEN Below 100 Ω
      Q2-4 (UP) - Q2-5 (GND3) UP Below 100 Ω
      Q2-1 (CLS) - Q2-5 (GND3) OPEN 1 kΩ or higher
      Q2-2 (DOWN) - Q2-5 (GND3) CLOSE 1 kΩ or higher
      Q2-3 (OPN) - Q2-5 (GND3) UP 1 kΩ or higher
      Q2-4 (UP) - Q2-5 (GND3) DOWN 1 kΩ or higher

    NG: REPLACE ROOF CONSOLE BOX ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL SWITCH) 

    OK: REPLACE SLIDING ROOF DRIVE GEAR SUB-ASSEMBLY (SLIDING ROOF CONTROL ECU)
