Section 9 (Engine Control System (3UZ-FE)): ECM: Removal

- DISCONNECT CABLE FROM NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL CAUTION: Wait at least 90 seconds after disconnecting the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal to prevent airbag and seat belt pretensioner activation.
- REMOVE COOL AIR INTAKE DUCT SEAL (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ENGINE ROOM SIDE COVER LH (See REMOVAL )
- REMOVE ECM COVER
- Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover.NOTE:
- Make sure there is no water on or around the ECM cover.
- Perform the inspection indoors to avoid rain.
- Prevent water from contacting the ECM's connectors and screw areas.
- Remove the 3 bolts and ECM cover.
- REMOVE ECM
- Disconnect the wire harness.
- Using a screwdriver, disconnect the 2 connector holders.
- Disconnect the 5 ECM connectors.
- Remove the 2 nuts and ECM from the ECM box.
- Disconnect the wire harness.
