Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2005 Toyota Sienna. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

HINT:

In case of using the hand-held tester, start the inspection step  1 and in case of not using the hand-held tester, start from step  2.

  1. READ VALUE OF HAND-HELD TESTER 
    1. Connect the hand-held tester to the DLC3.
    2. Check the compressor using DATA LIST.
    1. OK: PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  
    2. NG: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  2. INSPECT MAGNET-CLUTCH RELAY 
    1. Remove the magnet clutch relay from engine room R/B.
    2. Check the continuity between each pair of terminal of magnet clutch relay as shown in MAGNET CLUTCH RELAY  .

      Standard: 

      MAGNET CLUTCH RELAY

      Terminal No. Specified condition
      3 - 5 No continuity
      3 - 5 Less than 1 Ω (When battery voltage is applied to terminals 1 and 2)
      1 - 2 Continuity

    1. NG: REPLACE MAGNET-CLUTCH RELAY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP 
  3. INSPECT COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY 
    1. Disconnect the connector from the magnet clutch assy.
    2. Connect the positive (+) lead to terminal 1 and negative (-) lead to terminal body ground, then check that the magnetic clutch assy is engaged.

    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE COOLER COMPRESSOR ASSY 
    2. OK: GO TO NEXT STEP. 
  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (ACMG - BODY GROUND)

    1. Check for an open or short circuit in harness and connector between terminal ACMG of ECM and body ground (See ELECTRONIC CIRCUIT INSPECTION PROCEDURE ).
    1. NG: REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR 
    2. OK: REPLACE ECM
