Inspection Procedure

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2003 Toyota 4Runner. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Check Display (GPS Mark Display) 
    1. Preparation for the pre-check.
      1. Move the vehicle in the place with a fine view to GPS mark is displayed.
    2. Check the screen display.
      1. Turn the ignition switch ON.
      2. Turn the power switch of the radio receiver assembly ON to display the map.

      Standard: "GPS" mark is appeared 

    1. NG: Go To Troubleshoot For "GPS Mark Does Not Appear" 
    2. OK: Go To Next Step 
  2. Check When This Happens 
    1. Check the abnormal condition.
      1. Check the point in which the trouble occurs.

      Standard: 

      CHECK ABNORMAL CONDITION

      Item Condition
      A The trouble occur in the not specific area
      B The trouble occur in the specific area
    NOTE: At the place difficult specify the vehicle position (a by-pass road, a high-level road, a loop road, or several-storied car park, etc.), the vehicle position may be of the point due to the wrong matching.
    1. A: Go To Next Step 
    2. B: Normal (Recheck The Operation) 
  3. Check Display (Automatic Calibration) 
    1. Check the screen display.
      1. Check the color of "Automatic calibration" switch at the distance correction screen.

      Standard: Green ("Automatic Calibration" Switch) 

    1. OK: Normal (Recheck The Operation), Observe Until The Automatic Calibration Finishes (Runs At More Than 10km/h) 
    2. NG: Go To Next Step 
  4. Navigation Check Mode (Vehicle Sensors) 
    1. Perform vehicle signal check of navigation check mode.
      1. Start up the diagnosis system and read result of SPD signal in vehicle sensors mode.

      Standard: Input signal is normal (SPD) 

    1. NG: Go to step   6 
    2. OK: Go To Next Step 
  5. Check And Operate Again 
    1. NG: Check And Replace Navigation ECU 
  6. Inspect Navigation ECU (SPD, GND) 
    1. Remove the navigation ECU with connectors still connected.
    2. Check voltage.
      1. Shift the shift lever to neutral.
      2. Jack up one of the front wheel.
      3. Turn ignition switch ON.
      4. Measure voltage between terminals SPD and GND of navigation ECU when the front wheel are turned slowly.

      Voltage is generated intermittently.

    1. OK: Check And Replace Navigation ECU 
    2. NG: Repair Or Replace Harness Or Connector
