Power Steering ECU

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1994 Lexus SC 400, 1994 Lexus SC 300, and 1994 Lexus LS 400. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Raise and support vehicle. Remove instrument panel undercover. DO NOT disconnect ECU connector. Start engine. Using DVOM, measure voltage between ECU harness connector terminals SOL (+) and SOL (-) with engine idling. See Figure. DVOM should indicate .32-.44 volt.
  2. Place transmission in gear. Increase indicated vehicle speed to 37 MPH. DVOM should now indicate .14-.40 volt. If voltage is not as specified, replace ECU.
CAUTION: To avoid damage to solenoid, DO NOT apply voltage for more than 30 seconds.
