Parking Brake

  1. Pull handbrake lever 3 clicks. Parking brakes should be fully engaged. If parking brakes are not fully engaged, fully release handbrake lever and go to next step.
  2. Raise and support rear of vehicle. Tighten parking brake shoe adjusting bolt until brake drum is locked, then back off adjusting bolt 1 1/2 turns. Ensure drum is free to rotate. Recheck handbrake operation. If handbrake is not fully applied by pulling handbrake lever 3 clicks, go to next step.
  3. Remove switch panel from center console. Remove handbrake lever cover from center console. Rotate handbrake cable adjuster as appropriate to adjust handbrake cable slack (counterclockwise reduces slack). Recheck handbrake operation. Readjust as necessary until parking brakes are fully applied by 3 clicks of handbrake lever.
