Description & Operation: Description

  1. Airbag Control Unit (ACU)
    • The airbag control unit determines whether and when to deploy the airbag and the seat belt pretensioner.
    • The airbag control unit supplies the necessary power for deployment at the appropriate moment.
    • Key functions of the airbag control unit include.
      • Collision detection and passenger occupancy sensing.
      • Rollover accident detection.
      • Self diagnosis of the airbag system.
      • Displaying warning lights in case of any issues with the airbag system.
      • Supplying a high-voltage cutoff signal in the event of an accident.
  2. Front Impact Sensor (FIS): In the event of a head-on collision, the airbag control unit uses signals from the front impact sensor to determine when and whether to deploy the driver airbag, passenger airbag, side airbag, knee airbag and seat belt pretensioner.
  3. Side Impact Sensor (SIS)
    • The side impact sensor consists of the pressure type side impact sensor sensing the collision pressure, and the acceleration type side impact sensor sensing the collision acceleration.
    • When the event of a side collision, the airbag control unit uses the side impact sensor signal to determine whether and when to deploy the side airbag, curtain airbag.
