Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS)

  1. VSS is mounted on back of speedometer. Remove instrument cluster. Connect an analog ohmmeter between instrument cluster C230 connector terminal No. 3 (Green/Red wire) and connector C229 connector terminal No. 14 (Black wire). See Fig 1 .
  2. While observing ohmmeter, rotate speedometer cable shaft. Ohmmeter should pulse 4 times per shaft rotation. If VSS does not function as specified, replace VSS.
