Solenoid, Fuel Quantity: Installation

WARNING:

No sparks, open flames or smoking. Risk of poisoning from inhaling and swallowing fuel. Risk of injury to eyes and skin from contact with fuel. Pour fuels only into suitable and appropriately marked containers. Wear protective clothing.

Clean sealing surfaces.
NOTE:
If excessive metallic debris or sand is present on the filter screen, investigate if debris is also in the fuel injection pump and low-pressure supply lines.
Inspect the fuel quantity solenoid filter screen (1) and clean as necessary.
Lubricate the O-ring seals (1) on the fuel quantity solenoid (2).

Remove the protective cap from opening.
Install the fuel quantity solenoid (1) and tighten fasteners (2) finger tight:
- Tighten the screws (2) to 4 N.m (35 in. lbs.).
- Tighten the screws (2) to 7 N.m (62 in. lbs.).
Connect the fuel quantity solenoid wiring harness connector (3).

Install the fuel injection pump blocker plate (1) and tighten the bolts (2) to 25 N.m (18 ft. lbs.).

Install the engine cover (1).
Connect the negative battery cable.
Start the engine, allow to run, turn engine off and inspect for leaks.
