Removal And Installation
REMOVAL
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), disconnect the IBS connector first before disconnecting the negative battery cable.
- Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Drain the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Remove the right rear wheel splash shield. Refer to
SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION
.
- Remove the fasteners (1) and the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) tank shield (2).
- Disconnect the DEF pump wire harness connector (4).
- Disconnect the DEF level sensor wire harness connector (3).
- Disconnect the DEF the supply line heater wire harness connector (1).
- Disconnect the DEF the supply line (2). Refer to FITTING, QUICK CONNECT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Disconnect the quick connectors for the DEF tank filler tube and breather tube (1).
- Position a transmission jack under DEF tank.
- Remove the bolts (1) and the DEF tank (2).
- Lower the DEF tank and remove the DEF tank from transmission jack.
INSTALLATION
- Position the Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank onto transmission jack and raise tank into place.
- Install the DEF tank bolts (1) and tighten to the proper specification. Refer to DIESEL EXHAUST FLUID EMISSIONS, TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS .
- Remove the transmission jack.
- Connect the DEF fill tube and the vent tube (1) to the DEF tank.
- Connect the DEF level sensor wire harness connector (3).
- Connect the DEF heater wire harness connector (1).
- Connect the DEF supply line connector.
- Install the DEF tank shield (2) and the fasteners (1).
- Install the right rear wheel splash shield. Refer to SHIELD, SPLASH, REAR WHEELHOUSE, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the support and lower the vehicle.
- Fill the DEF tank with clean fresh fluid.
- Connect the negative battery cable. If equipped with an Intelligent Battery Sensor (IBS), connect the IBS connector.
- Using a scan tool, perform
DEF Pump Replacement
function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.NOTE:
You may be require to run the DEF Pump Replacement procedure two to three times to ensure that the pump is properly primed.
- Using a scan tool, perform DEF Tank Fluid Level Reset function found under MISCELLANEOUS FUNCTIONS.
