Removal And Installation: Removal
- Remove the battery tray. Refer to TRAY, BATTERY, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Place the transmission in "Neutral" and insert an appropriate locking device (1).
- Open the clips (1) and release the gear selection cable.
- Disengage the gear engagement cable end from the lever (1) by rotating the cable to one side and prying it off in the direction that continues the rotating motion.
- Disengage the gear selector cable end from the lever (2) by rotating the cable to one side and prying it off in the direction that continues the rotating motion.
- Remove the gear shifter cable from the bracket by pulling back on the locking collar (1) and lifting the cable out of the bracket.
- Remove the gear selector cable from the bracket by pulling back on the locking collar (2) and lifting the cable out of the bracket.
- Remove the floor console. Refer to CONSOLE, FLOOR, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Insert a suitable locking pin (1) into the shifter as shown in illustration.
- Slide the cursor (1a) to compress the spring and arm the "quick adjuster" device of the gear selection cable while simultaneously raising the button (1b).
- Disconnect the end of the cable (2) from the shifter.
- Disconnect the "quick-fit" device (1) of the cable from the shifter.
- Do the same to disconnect the cable from the gear shift supporting gear lever.
- Remove the belly pan. Refer to BELLY PAN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- If equipped, remove the rear propeller shaft. Refer to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

- Unscrew the clips (1) attaching the exhaust silencer heat shield to the floor pan.
- Using a suitable tool, to remove the rivets (1) securing the exhaust heat shield to the floor pan.
- Remove the exhaust silencer heat shield.
- Disengage the selection and gear cables from the retaining clips (2).
- Remove the nuts (1) and remove the gear shift cables complete with support bracket from the vehicle.
