Section 175 (Power Transfer Unit (Service Information)): Installation: Installation

- Remove and discard the O-ring (1) from the PTU (2).
- Apply Mopar® RTV, 05010884AA to the
NEW
O-ring.
- Install the O-ring in the groove on the PTU.
- Place the PTU (1) in position on vehicle.
- Install the bolts (1) to hold the PTU to the lower transaxle housing. Tighten the bolts to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.)
- Lower and remove the high stand, holding the front of the engine and transmission up.
- Place the heat shield (1) in position on the PTU.
- Install the bolt (2) to hold the lower heat shield to the PTU. Tighten the bolt to 22 N.m (16 ft. lbs.).
- Install the heat shield (3) using NEW mounting clips.
- Install the bolts to hold the PTU to the transaxle upper mount bracket. Tighten the bolts to 54 N.m (40 ft. lbs.).
- Lift the right side of the suspension cradle to the body structure.
- Install the bolts to hold the suspension cradle to the body structure.
- Remove the high stand supporting the right side of the suspension cradle.
- Install the rear propeller shaft assembly. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Install the exhaust crossunder pipe in position on the vehicle. Refer to . Refer to PIPE, EXHAUST CROSSUNDER, INSTALLATION .
- Install the fore/aft crossmember Refer to CROSSMEMBER, FRONT FORE AND AFT, INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle to midway level.
- If used, remove the cap-plug from the PTU output shaft seal.
- Install the right halfshaft. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Verify that the fluid level in the PTU is within specification. Refer to STANDARD PROCEDURE .
- Install the right front wheel. Refer to INSTALLATION .
- Lower the vehicle.
- Road test the vehicle to verify the repair.
