Standard Procedure-Differential Fluid Fill

The differential is fluid is fill for life.

The fill plug (1) for the differential assembly is located on rear of the Rear Drive Module (RDM).

The correct fill level is to the bottom of the fill plug hole. Be sure the vehicle is on a level surface, or is hoisted in a level manner, in order to obtain the correct fill level.

Differential fluid must be equalized though out differential. It may take a couple of minutes for the fluid to equalize.

1. Raise and support the vehicle on a hoist. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .

2. Position a drain pan under the differential fill plug (1).
3. Remove the differential fill plug (1).
   NOTE:

   When filling the differential, it may take several minutes for the fluid to equalize, it is necessary to allow for fluid equalization to determine if the fluid level is correct when filling. 

4. Using a suction gun or equivalent, fill the differential assembly to the bottom of the fill plug. If removed for service the fluid capacities are 89L (.94 Quarts) if single speed, 1.15 L (1.2 Quarts) if two speed standard, 1.23 L (1.3 Quarts) if two speed with locker of Mopar® specified MS-2395 fluid (70W-80). Refer to CAPACITIES AND RECOMMENDED FLUIDS, SPECIFICATIONS .
   CAUTION:

   RDM fluid contains a special modifier package for the wet clutch. Use of any other fluid not meeting the manufacturer specifications will cause damage to the RDM.

5. Install the fill plug (1) and torque to 35 N.m (26 ft. lbs.).
