A/C Compressor - Description

A/C COMPRESSOR

When equipped with the 3.6L engine, the A/C system uses a Visteon RS-18 A/C compressor (1), with a fixed displacement of 180 cubic centimeters (11 cubic inches).

When equipped with the 2.8L diesel engine, the A/C system uses a Zexel DKS-17DS A/C compressor (1), with a fixed displacement of 175.5 cubic centimeters (10.7 cubic inches).

Both A/C compressors have suction and discharge ports (2) with studs for mounting the refrigerant lines. Both A/C compressors have an integral high pressure relief valve (3) at the rear of the compressor and a label (4) that identifies the compressor model and the use of R-134a refrigerant. Both A/C compressors use an electrically operated clutch (5) to engage and disengage them from the engine accessory drive belt system.
