Ignition Timing Control System: Notes

Ignition timing is electronically controlled by Powertrain Control Module (PCM). Base ignition timing is not adjustable with this system. PCM controlled ignition system consists of an auto shutdown relay, a crankshaft position sensor, two knock sensors, a camshaft position sensor, ignition coil (4.7L), coil rail (4.0L), ignition coil capacitor(s), and spark plugs. The manifold absolute pressure sensor, throttle position sensor, idle air control motor and engine coolant temperature sensor also have an effect on the control of the ignition system.
