Installation (Liberty)
- Position lower section of fuel pump module assembly into fuel tank. The bottom of fuel tank has 2 formed guides. See Figure. Lock fuel pump module assembly into these 2 guides by sliding module toward left side of fuel tank. Push down on plastic tab to lock module to fuel tank guides.
- Connect fuel supply line to bottom of upper fuel pump module section. Connect fuel pressure regulator to bottom of upper fuel pump module section. Connect electrical connector to bottom of upper fuel pump module section. Position fuel pump module into fuel tank.
- Notch on fuel pump module must be facing rear of tank. See Figure. Position lock ring to module. Tap lock ring in a clockwise direction using a brass drift and hammer until ring is rotated up to built-on stops. Attach (snap on) 2 fuel filter fuel lines to top of fuel pump module. Connect hoses/lines to ORVR components.
- Fill fuel tank with fuel. Start engine and check for fuel leaks. Apply silicone sealant to bottom of fuel pump module metal access plate. Install fuel pump module metal access plate and 4 nuts. Tighten nuts to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Position carpet and install 2 new cargo clamp rivets into each cargo holdown clamp.
NOTE:
Whenever fuel pump module is serviced, pump module gasket must be replaced.
