High Beam Head Lights Will Not Turn Off
- Using scan tool, select BODY INPUT/OUTPUTS. Monitor HIGH BEAM SWITCH STATE. Turn high beam switch from off to on position. If HIGH BEAM SWITCH STATE changes when switch is operated, go to next step. If HIGH BEAM SWITCH STATE does not change when switch is operated, repair Brown wire (high beam switch sense circuit) between left multifunction switch and Body Control Module (BCM) for short to ground. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove high beam relay from junction block. See Figure. Install a known-good relay. Operate high beam headlights. If high beam headlights do not operate correctly, go to next step. If high beam headlights operate correctly, replace defective high beam relay. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Remove high beam relay from junction block. If high beam headlights are not illuminated, go to next step. If high beam headlights are illuminated, repair relay output circuit (Red or Red/Orange wire) from high beam relay socket terminal No. 87 to headlights. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect left multifunction switch connector. Disconnect BCM connector C2. See Figure. Using DVOM, measure resistance between ground and left multifunction switch connector terminal No. 6 (Brown wire). See Figure. If resistance is 5 ohms or greater, go to next step. If resistance is less than 5 ohms, repair short to ground in Brown wire. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
- Replace BCM. See BODY CONTROL MODULE under REMOVAL & INSTALLATION. Perform BODY VERIFICATION TEST under VERIFICATION TESTS.
