Emission Control Systems: Service and Repair

The Check Engine lamp will be illuminated for approximately three seconds after the ignition switch has been placed in the On position as a bulb check. If incorrect or no signals are received by the Single Module Engine Controller (SMEC) from various sensors, the engine controller will illuminate the Check Engine lamp. After diagnosing and servicing the fuel injection system or emission related systems, the memory will be cleared after approximately 20-100 ignition key on-off cycles or by using the Diagnosis Readout Box II (DRB II) and selecting the fault code erasure mode.
