Diagnostic Test Procedure

  1. Disconnect negative battery cable. Disconnect TR switch connector. Disconnect ECM connector EM81. Measure resistance between TR switch harness connector terminal "K" and ECM harness connector EM81 terminal No. 12. Is resistance greater than 5 ohms? If yes, repair high resistance between TR switch harness connector terminal "K" and ECM harness connector EM81 terminal No. 12. If no, go to next step.
  2. Measure resistance between TR switch terminals "J" and "K". Move the gear selector lever from PARK to NEUTRAL and back. Does resistance switch between open circuit and continuity as the lever moves? If yes, go to next step. If no, install a new rotary switch.
  3. Disconnect the D-4 switch connector. Disconnect Transmission Control Module (TCM) connector EM07. Measure resistance between D-4 switch harness connector terminal No. 1 and TCM harness connector EM07 terminal No. 13. Is resistance greater than 5 ohms? If yes, repair high resistance between D-4 switch harness connector terminal No. 1 and TCM harness connector EM07 terminal No. 13. If no, install a new TR sensor.
