July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

ZF 5HP24

  1. Park vehicle on level ground. Apply parking brake. Wait at least 2 minutes. Ensure transmission fluid temperature is less than 86°F (30°C). Start engine and verify idle speed is 600-750 RPM. If idle speed is not correct, repair as necessary.
  2. Move gear selector from Park to Drive to Reverse and back to Park. Raise and support vehicle. Remove fluid filler/level side plug. Fluid level should be level with bottom of filler plug hole and flow of fluid should be a trickle after about one minute. Top off as necessary.
  3. Top off using a syringe dedicated to transmission fluid only (not used for any other type of oil or fluids). Ensure transmission fluid temperature is less than 122°F (50°C). Inject transmission fluid into filler side plug until it overflows from plug opening. Wait for at least one minute until flow of fluid is reduced to a trickle.
  4. Install fluid filler/level side plug and tighten to specification. See TORQUE SPECIFICATIONS . Check for leaks and clean up spilled fluid.
