Intake Air Temperature Switch: Description and Operation

PURPOSE
The air temperature switch provides the IGNITION ECM with a signal to retard ignition timing at high intake air temperatures, reducing the possibility of "pinging."

OPERATION
The bi-metal switch turns "ON" (closes) at air temperature of 167°F (75°C), signalling the ECM to retard timing.
