Description & Operation: Introduction
Transmission is a fully automatic unit consisting primarily of a 3 element hydraulic torque converter and a compound planetary gear set. Three multiple disc clutches, 2 roller clutches, and 2 bands provide friction elements required to obtain desired function of planetary gear set. A hydraulic system pressurized by a gear type pump provides working pressure required to operate friction elements and automatic controls. See Fig 1 .
