Steering Column: Removal
- Disconnect negative battery cable. Remove horn pad and steering wheel as previously described. Remove upper and lower column shrouds and lower instrument panel. See Figure .
- Disconnect combination switch and ignition switch wiring connectors located behind lower instrument panel. Remove both switches from column as previously described. In engine compartment, make reassembly reference marks on universal joint/coupler and steering gear unit shaft. See Fig 1 . Remove universal joint/coupler clamp bolt.
- Remove lower column bracket-to-front panel bolts. Remove upper column bracket bolts. Separate universal joint from steering gear unit and remove steering column assembly from vehicle.
