Throttle Position Sensor:

The throttle position sensor (TPS) assembly consists of the idle switch and throttle position sensor. The assembly is connected to the carburetor throttle shaft. The idle switch informs the ECM when the throttle is at idle position while the throttle position switch sends a pre-WOT / WOT (wide open throttle) voltage signal. On manual transmission models, the TPS signal is used to inform the ECM of throttle angle as a load indicator for the gear shift indicator light system.
