Component Function Check

- CHECK ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR
- Turn ignition switch OFF.
- Disconnect ECT sensor harness connector.
- Remove ECT sensor. Refer to "REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ".
- Check resistance between ECT sensor terminals by heating with hot water as shown in the figure below.
Terminals Condition Resistance (kΩ) 1 and 2 Temperature [°C (°F)] 20 (68) 2.10 - 2.90 50 (122) 0.68 - 1.00 90 (194) 0.236 - 0.260 Is the inspection result normal?
YES: GO TO 2.
NO: Proceed to "DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".
- CHECK INTERMITTENT INCIDENT
Check intermittent incident. Refer to "INTERMITTENT INCIDENT ".
Is the inspection result normal?
YES: INSPECTION END
NO: Proceed to "DIAGNOSIS PROCEDURE ".
