Disassembly and Assembly: Disassembly

Remove oil pan (lower) and oil strainer. Refer to EXPLODED VIEW (2WD) or EXPLODED VIEW (AWD) .
Remove oil pan (upper). Refer to EXPLODED VIEW (2WD models) or EXPLODED VIEW (AWD models) .
Remove front timing chain case and timing chain (primary). Refer to EXPLODED VIEW .
Remove oil pump assembly.
Remove oil pump cover.
Remove oil pump inner rotor and oil pump outer rotor from oil pump body.
After removing regulator valve plug, remove regulator valve spring and regulator valve.

ASSEMBLY

Note the following, and assemble in the reverse order of disassembly.

CAUTION: Before assembly, apply new engine oil to the parts as instructed in the figure.

Install oil pump inner rotor with the groove faced to oil pump cover side.

When installing oil pump, align crankshaft flat faces with oil pump inner rotor flat faces.
