Diagnostic Procedure

Remove ECT sensor. Place ECT sensor in heated water. Measure resistance between ECT sensor terminals, with water at specified temperatures. See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR RESISTANCE  table. If resistance is not as specified, replace ECT sensor. If resistance is as specified, check all harness connectors and repair as necessary.
