DTC Confirmation Test (Using CONSULT-II)
NOTE:
Before performing the following procedure, confirm battery voltage is more than 10 volts at idle, then stop engine immediately. For best results, perform test at an ambient temperature of 41°F (5°C) or more.
- Turn ignition off and wait at least 10 seconds. Turn ignition on. Select COOLAN TEMP/S in DATA MONITOR mode with CONSULT-II. Ensure COOLAN TEMP/S value is less than 104°F (40°C).
- If the value is out of range, park vehicle in a cool place and allow engine temperature to cool. DO NOT attempt to cool engine coolant temperature with a fan or means other than ambient air. Doing so may produce an inaccurate test result.
- Start engine and let it idle while monitoring COOLAN TEMP/S value. When COOLAN TEMP/S value reaches 158°F (70°C), immediately go to next step.
- Select EGR SYSTEM P0400 of EGR SYSTEM in DTC WORK SUPPORT mode with CONSULT-II. Press START. Accelerate vehicle to a speed of 25 MPH once and then stop vehicle with engine running.
- If COMPLETED appears on CONSULT-II screen, go to step 8. If COMPLETED does not appear on CONSULT-II screen, go to next step.
- Check output voltage of THRTL POS SEN (at closed throttle position) and note it. When the following conditions are met, TESTING will be displayed on CONSULT-II screen.
- Maintain the conditions until TESTING changes to COMPLETED. (It will take about 30 seconds or more).
- ENG SPEED: 1800-2800 RPM.
- Vehicle speed: More than 6 MPH.
- B/FUEL SCHDL: 5.0-8.5 msec.
- THRTL POS SEN : (X + 0.05) - (X + 0.87) V (X = Voltage value measured at step 6.
If TESTING is not displayed after 5 minutes, retry from step 1.
- If OK is displayed after pressing SELF-DIAG RESULTS, system is okay at this time. If NG is displayed, go to DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE .
