DTC P1400: EGR Control (EGRC) Solenoid: Procedure
- Turn ignition off. Disconnect EGRC solenoid harness connector. See Fig 1. Turn ignition on. Measure voltage between ground and EGRC solenoid harness connector Black/White wire. If battery voltage exists, go to next step. If battery voltage does not exist, repair open or short circuit. See appropriate wiring diagram in WIRING DIAGRAMS article.
- Disconnect ECM harness connector. See Figure. Check continuity of Blue/White wire between EGRC solenoid harness connector and ECM harness connector terminal No. 103. See Figure. If continuity exists, go to next step. If continuity does not exist, repair open in Blue/White wire.
- Remove EGRC solenoid. Using jumper wires, apply battery voltage to EGRC solenoid terminals. See Figure. Air should flow between ports "A" and "B". Air should not flow between ports "A" and "C". Remove jumper wires. Air should not flow between ports "A" and "B". Air should flow between ports "A" and "C". EGRC solenoid should switch in one second or less. Replace EGRC solenoid if it does not operate as specified. If EGRC solenoid is okay, go to next step.
- No problem is currently indicated. Problem may be intermittent. See TESTING PROCEDURE under SELF-DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM in SELF-DIAGNOSTICS - INTRODUCTION article.
