Test E: Abs Works Frequently
- Check brake fluid pressure distribution. See PROPORTIONING VALVE under TESTING in DISC & DRUM article. If pressure is as specified, go to next step. If pressure is not as specified, perform PRELIMINARY CHECKS under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Check wheel sensors and circuits. See DIAGNOSTIC PROCEDURE NO. 2 under DIAGNOSTIC TESTS. Repair as necessary. If wheel sensors and circuits are okay, go to next step.
- Check wheel bearings for excessive play. Repair as necessary. If wheel bearings are okay, road test vehicle and observe ABS warning light. If warning light stays off, go to next step. If warning light is on, perform self-diagnostics. See RETRIEVING DIAGNOSTIC TROUBLE CODES under DIAGNOSIS & TESTING.
- Disconnect ABS/TCS control unit harness connector. See Figure . Inspect ABS/TCS control unit pins for damage. Inspect harness connector terminals for loose connections or damage. Reconnect ABS/TCS control unit harness connector and retest system.
