Harness Inspection

  1. Inspect CPS to ECM input circuit. Disconnect CPS sensor harness connector and ECM connector. Connect jumper wire between ECM harness connector terminal No. 48 and vehicle ground. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, measure resistance between CPS harness connector terminal No. 2 (Black/Yellow wire) and vehicle ground. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
  2. Check continuity of shield ground circuit. Using ohmmeter, check resistance between sensor harness connector terminal No. 1 (Black wire) and vehicle ground. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
  3. Check continuity of output circuit between CPS sensor and ECM. Connect jumper wire between vehicle ground and ECM harness connector terminal No. 49 (White/Yellow wire) on non-turbo model or terminal No. 47 (White/Yellow wire) on turbo model. See Figure . Using ohmmeter, check resistance between CPS harness connector terminal No. 3 (White/Yellow wire) and vehicle ground. If continuity does not exist, inspect and repair circuit as needed.
