Do not wipe off the special grease.
- Lower the shift lever boot (a), then remove the shift lever knob (b).

- Review the precautions and procedures before doing repairs or service .
- Wait at least 3 minutes, after disconnecting the 12 volt battery terminal.
NOTE:Be careful not to bump (by impact wrench, hammer, etc.) the area around the SRS unit.

NOTE:Before installing the center console, make sure the SRS indicator works normally.

After Installation
- 12 Volt Battery Negative Terminal Reconnect
- ECU Key Write (only when replacing SRS unit) .
- Make sure the SRS unit has the latest software. If it does not have the latest, update the software in the SRS unit .
- Yaw Rate-Acceleration Neutral Position Memorization
NOTICE:
After replacing the SRS unit with a new one, memorize the yaw rate-acceleration neutral position.

NOTE: After replacing the SRS unit with a new one, initialize the front passenger's weight sensors.
- Turn the vehicle to the ON mode, and check that the SRS indicator comes on for about 6 seconds and then goes off.

NOTE:- Do not bend the shift cable excessively.
- Do not remove the shift cable by pulling the shift cable guide (a). (Figure 1)

Installation
1. Adjust shift cable .

3. Make sure that the shift cable end (a) is properly installed on the mounting stud (b). (Figure 5)

After Installation
- Shift cable after install check.
- 1. Turn the vehicle to the ON mode.
- 2. Move the shift lever to each position/mode, and check that the shift position indicator follows the shift lever operation.
- 3. Shift the transmission to the P position/mode, and check that the shift lock works properly.
- 4. Push the shift lock release, and check that the shift lever releases. Also, check that the shift lever locks when it is shifted back to the P position/mode.
- 5. Start the engine.NOTE:
Check that the engine starts in the P or N position/mode, and does not start in any other positions/modes.
- 6. Make sure the vehicle is turned to the OFF (LOCK) mode with the shift lever in the P position/mode. If it is not, adjust the shift cable again.
