When a throttle body blockage occurs, air flow decreases compared to the normal condition at similar throttle position. From this characteristic, the powertrain control module (PCM) assumes a blockage of the throttle body. If the throttle body blockage rate reaches 100 % of the predetermined threshold, a malfunction is detected and a DTC is stored.
