Vent blockage is determined by the change in the internal pressure of the fuel tank and the evaporative emission (EVAP) system. The powertrain control module (PCM) opens the EVAP canister purge valve after the EVAP system is decompressed, and estimates the volume of space from the pressure gradient when the pressure of the EVAP system is recovered. If the volume of space is small, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
