DTC P0013: General Description
The variable valve timing control (VTC) system consists of the VTC actuator, the VTC oil control solenoid valve, various sensors, and the powertrain control module (PCM). The PCM controls the VTC oil control solenoid valve by duty cycle and supplies hydraulic pressure to the advance chamber or the retard chamber in the actuator so the valve timing is optimized depending on the driving conditions (engine load, engine speed, and vehicle speed). If the return signal does not change according to the VTC actuator output duty for a set time, the PCM detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.
