DTC P0106: Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) Sensor Range/Performance Problem
General Description
The monitoring function checks the delivered pressure value of the manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor for plausible values. This is done by comparison of the pressure value with calibrated thresholds and rationality checks against reference pressure values as well as modeled pressure values. If the MAP sensor output value deviates from these threshold values, the powertrain control module (PCM) detects a malfunction and stores a DTC.

Fault path 1
The MAP sensor output value is greater than 286 kPa (2, 146 mmHg, 84.5 inHg).
Fault path 2
The MAP sensor output value is greater than 511.992 kPa (3, 840.25 mmHg, 151.1912 inHg).
- Physical range check for minimum fault
The MAP sensor output value is less than 10 kPa (75 mmHg, 2.9 inHg).
- Plausibility check for maximum fault
The difference between MAP sensor output value and modeled manifold pressure is greater than 6 kPa (45 mmHg, 1.8 inHg).

Fault path 1
The difference between modeled manifold pressure and MAP sensor output value is greater than 6 kPa (45 mmHg, 1.8 inHg).
Fault path 2
The pressure before engine start in the intake manifold is lower than a specified value.
- Physical range check for signal fault
The absolute difference between the measured MAP sensor pressure at engine speed [Engine Speed] 0 rpm and the reference pressure is more than 3.0 kPa (23 mmHg, 0.89 inHg).

Diagnosis Details
Conditions for setting the DTC
When a malfunction is detected, the MIL comes on and a Pending DTC, a Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data are stored in the PCM memory.
Conditions for clearing the DTC
The MIL is cleared if the malfunction does not return in three consecutive trips in which the diagnostic runs. The MIL, the Pending DTC, the Confirmed DTC, and the freeze data can be cleared with the scan tool Clear command.
