Power Sliding Door Motor Unit Replacement

NOTE:

Have an assistant help you when removing and installing the power sliding door motor unit.
Put on gloves to protect your hands.
Use seat covers to avoid damaging any surfaces.
Take care not to scratch the center rail or the body.
Take care not to kink the cable.
Take care not to drop or damage the door.
Be sure to disable the power sliding door by turning the power sliding door switch off.

Place the vehicle on a firm, level surface when removing and installing the sliding door.
Remove these items:
- Center rail cover (see SLIDING DOOR CENTER RAIL REPLACEMENT )
- Rear side trim panel (see TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION - REAR SIDE AREA )
- Second row seat belt retractor (see SECOND ROW SEAT BELT REPLACEMENT )
For the right side: Remove the rear HVAC side duct (see step 7 on REAR HVAC UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
For the right side: Remove the rear HVAC unit mounting bolts.

Hold the lever opened to loose cable tensioner.
1. Push the bottom of the lever (A) into the cover to lift the top of the lever up.
2. Pull the top of the lever (B) back on the cover.

Release the power sliding door motor unit cable (A) from the center rail cable guide (B).

Leave the rear side of the door slightly apart from the body, pull the center roller (A) forward, then remove it from the center rail.

Disconnect the power sliding door motor unit cables (A).

Remove the bolts securing the front pulley (A).

For the right side: Carefully tip the rear HVAC unit (A) away, and peel back the insulation foam (B) to expose the rear pulley (C). Remove the nuts securing the rear pulley.
NOTE: To avoid loosing the nuts, use a magnetic socket.

For the left side: Remove the nuts securing the rear pulley (A).

Disconnect the power sliding door motor unit connectors (A), then detach the cable holders (B). Remove the bolts, then remove the power sliding door motor unit (C).

Install the motor unit in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Make sure each connector is plugged in properly, and each cable is connected securely.
- Check the door alignment, and if necessary, adjust it (see SLIDING DOOR POSITION ADJUSTMENT ).
- After reconnecting the power sliding door motor unit cables to the center roller, push the front and rear levers (A) of the power sliding door motor unit into the cover to activate the pulley tensioners.
- If the power sliding door is malfunctioning, turn off the power sliding door switch, and manually close the door.
