Front Door Latch Replacement

NOTE: Put on gloves to protect your hands.

Remove these items:
- Door panel (see FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
- Inner handle (see FRONT DOOR PANEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION )
Release the rod fastener, and disconnect the outer handle rod (see step 5 ).
Pull away the glass run channel (A) as needed, and remove the bolts, then remove the center lower channel (B) by pulling it downward.

Remove the latch (A) through the hole in the door.
1. Detach the inner handle cable clip (B).
2. Remove the TORX bolts (C) with a TORX T30 bit.
3. Remove the screw (D).
4. Disconnect the key cylinder rod (E).
  NOTE: Take care not to bend the outer handle rod (F), the latch cable (G), or the inner handle cable (H).

Driver's door: If necessary, remove the hole seal (A) and the bolt, then remove the key cylinder (B).

Remove the foam seals (A, B, C, D) from the latch protector (E).

Remove the screw, and release the hooks (A), then remove the latch protector (B).

Disconnect the latch cable (A) and the inner handle cable (B) from the latch (C).

Install the latch in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:
- Before reinstalling the latch and the latch protector, clean the latch protector surfaces with isopropyl alcohol where the new foam seals will be attached.
- After reinstalling the latch protector to the latch, attach the new foam seals to the latch and the latch protector.
- Make sure the connector is plugged in properly, and the rod and each cable is connected securely.
- Make sure the power door lock operates properly.
- Make sure the plastic cover on the door is installed properly and sealed around its outside perimeter to seal out water.
- Push the hooks into place securely.
