Steering Angle Sensor Replacement

NOTE:
Do not damage or drop the combination switch as the steering angle sensor is sensitive to shock and vibration.
- Turn the ignition switch to LOCK (0).
- With the front wheels in the straight-ahead position and the steering wheel centered, then remove the steering wheel (see STEERING WHEEL REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION ).
- Remove the steering column covers (see COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Disconnect the combination light switch 12P connector (A) and the steering angle sensor 5P connector (B) from the combination switch assembly/cable reel (C).
- Disconnect cable reel connector A (20P), cable reel connector B (4P), and the wiper/washer switch 8P connector (C) from the combination switch assembly/cable reel (D).
- Remove the wire harness clips (A) from the combination switch assembly/cable reel (B).
- Remove the combination switch assembly/cable reel mounting screws (A), then remove the combination switch assembly/cable reel (B) from the steering column.
- Remove the cable reel (see CABLE REEL REPLACEMENT ).
- Remove the combination light switch (A) and the wiper/washer switch (B) from the combination switch body assembly (C).NOTE: When installing the cable reel, set the turn signal canceling sleeve position so that the arrow points (D) straight up.
- Install the combination switch body assembly in the reverse order of removal, and note these items:NOTE:
- Do not remove the steering angle sensor from the combination switch body assembly.
- Tighten the combination switch assembly/cable reel mounting screws in the proper sequence (see step 1 on INSTALLATION ).
