Shift Lock Solenoid Test

- Remove the front console (see FRONT CONSOLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION ).
- Disconnect the shift lock solenoid connector.
- Connect the battery positive terminal to shift lock solenoid connector terminal No. 1, and connect the battery negative terminal to connector terminal No. 2. Do not connect the battery positive terminal to connector terminal No. 2 or you will damage the diode inside the shift lock solenoid.
- Check that the shift lever can be moved from the P position. Release the battery terminals from the solenoid connector. Move the shift lever back to the P position, and check that it locks securely.
- Check that the shift lock releases when the shift lock release is pushed, and check that it locks when the shift lock release is released.
- If the shift lock solenoid does not work properly, replace it.
