Distributor: Description and Operation

Distributor Exploded View:

PURPOSE
Acts as a rotary switch, distributing the firing voltage using a distributor rotor and distributor cap in a pre-set sequence.

OPERATION
Spins in syncronization with the camshaft, and is direct driven off the passenger side end of the cam. Rotates clockwise when viewed from the distributor's rotor end.

CONSTRUCTION
A cast aluminum housing contains the Ignition Control Module, Ignition Coil Module, and sensors for fuel injection timing.
