July 1: So it begins. Don't worry, this is not in the correct legal jurisdiction!

Valve Body Unit: Disassembly

  1. Remove 2 bolts holding the valve body to the gear housing. Remove 2 small "O" rings, one large "O" ring and 2 port orifices from gear housing. Remove pinion shaft dust seal from valve body.
  2. Remove 2 valve port retaining bolts. Remove valve port and seal from side of valve body. Pull cut-off valve and spring from valve body. Remove valve body cap, cap seal and dowels from valve body.
  3. Pushing the reaction control valve to one side of valve body, remove roller from reaction control valve. Repeat procedure on other side of valve body to remove opposite roller. Remove control valve seal.
NOTE: To keep plungers from falling out when removing rollers, hold plungers with fingers.
  4. On Accord, models with variable assist power steering, remove sensor orifice and "O" ring from valve body. Using a 1/16" drill bit filed flat on the shank end, pry orifice from valve body.
  5. Using the same drill bit used for the orifice, insert the bit through the valve body and push out the damping orifice and "O" ring from behind.
