Service Precautions
WARNING:
To avoid injury from accidental air bag deployment, read and carefully follow all service precautions. Deactivate the air bag system before performing any repairs. Refer to DISABLING & ACTIVATING AIR BAG SYSTEM .
- Wait at least 2 minutes after removing AIR BAG fuse before removing or servicing any air bag related component.
- Never use air bag system components from another vehicle.
- DO NOT expose air bag module to temperatures greater than 150°F (65°C).
- Never attempt to disassemble any air bag component.
- DO NOT dispose of undeployed air bag inflator module. Deploy inflator module before disposing. For 1995 models, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article for information. For 1996 models, refer to AIR BAG RESTRAINT SYSTEM article for information.
- When handling inflator module, hold with deployment cover facing away from your body.
- Discard inflator module if it has been dropped 3 feet or more.
