Removal & Installation

  1. Drain cooling system. Relieve fuel pump pressure, see FUEL SYSTEM in BASIC TESTING article. Disconnect negative battery cable and air intake duct. Disconnect and label all vacuum and coolant hoses, wire connectors and cable linkages from throttle body.
  2. Remove bolts retaining throttle body to intake chamber. Remove throttle body and discard gasket. DO NOT reuse old gasket. DO NOT scratch mated sealing surfaces when removing old gasket material.
  3. To install, reverse removal procedure. Tighten throttle body-to-intake chamber bolts to 16 ft. lbs. (22 N.m). Ensure throttle cable linkage has free movement and does not "stick" throttle open. Refill cooling system.
