EGR Valve (Prizm)

With engine idling, apply 10 in. Hg vacuum to EGR valve vacuum port. The EGR valve diaphragm should pull plunger off its seat and engine should run rough or die. If engine does not run rough or die remove EGR valve for further inspection of valve and exhaust recirculation passages.
